They’re ambitious, demanding, and they question everything. Generation Y have hit the workforce whether we like it or not and they are out to change the world. To understand Generation Y, you have to understand their baby boomer parents. Parents of Generation Y grew up in an era when to succeed, you had to work hard and there was never quite enough money to go around. They wanted a much better life for their own children. Hence, Generation Y have been pampered, nurtured and given everything they need and more for a comfortable life. They are not used to doing without. They don’t know the meaning of struggle and hardship. Dripping with fashion accessories such as iPhones and laptops, they are leaving university in debt and with a burning desire to live it up now that they are earning. You can’t fool them with money – they know exactly what they are worth in salary and they expect it to be a high number to support their lifestyle and pay off their debt. With information at their fingertips, they are highly productive – they know how to work smarter, not harder – but they are broke.

Generation Y are impatient. They have to have the lifestyle of their dreams now, not later. They are saddled with debt, so why not add more? While they are technologically savvy, they are financially illiterate. The education system hasn’t kept pace with the increasing complexity of financial products and the easy availability of consumer debt. Low savings, high spending and a lack of understanding of the consequences of being in debt mean that Generation Y may go from broke to even broker.

With the right financial education Generation Y have all it takes to become wealthy. Their potential lies in using technology to find themselves the best deals for spending, saving and investing. The world is at their fingertips; they will search out cheap buys on eBay and find opportunities for making money anywhere in the globe. Expect Generation Y to do all their banking online, switching debt to where it costs them less and savings to where they earn more, with little regard for loyalty to any particular financial institution. Armed with information, they can choose to become powerful arbitrageurs and negotiators (brokers rather than broke!).

Expect to see Generation Y asking questions about where their pension funds are being invested and seeking out socially responsible investments. Despite their egocentricity, Generation Y want to preserve the environment and protect human and animal rights. If they can curb their debt, channel their ambition and become financially savvy, Generation Y has the potential to create as much wealth as they desire.

In the first half of the twentieth century, there was a distinct divide between people who attended four year colleges or universities and those who went into specific careers that required technical skills. The latter individuals usually attended what were called trade schools or entered apprenticeship programs to learn a trade. In the past several decades, however, a hybrid form of education has become increasingly popular that combines the practical application of a trade school with the broader education of a more traditional university. This newer, more modern form of education is the career college.

Career colleges offer a balance of core courses such as English, math and the sciences, but focus more thoroughly on the components needed to enter the workforce prepared to pursue a specific career path. Most career colleges are tightly focused on their students’ desire to get an education that is extremely hands-on and technically oriented.

An increase in the need for technically trained, college educated employees is the largest driving force behind the increase in career colleges. Employers want students who are intelligent and able to think on their feet, so they have looked in the past for college educated students. However, the advent of computer technology, medical, and scientific technology meant that they then had to start from scratch in training their new employees. On the other hand, apprenticeship programs meant they were trying to train individuals right out of high school who often didn’t have the science, math or other knowledge needed to succeed. Career college graduates offer employers a balance that’s hard to find anywhere else.

For students, career colleges offer a variety of career options at a reasonable cost. Many career colleges offer associates degrees that can be earned in two years rather than four, putting them into the work force with two years less tuition they have to pay. They also find they are more motivated when they aren’t wasting their study time on coursework that has no relevance to their eventual goals. While many college students thrive on elective courses, Career College students appreciate not having to spend time and money on what they believe are “pointless” classes to fulfill a requirement.

Many career colleges also offer four year programs for students who want to advance their careers by getting a Bachelor’s degree in order to improve their resume or pursue a promotion. The flexibility of the program’s offerings is another appealing aspect of career colleges. Many students begin working in their chosen field upon receiving their Associate’s degree, and work toward their Bachelor’s degree in the evenings or through an online or distance learning program.

Career colleges offer a wide range of programs to suit almost every interest. Most are technology oriented or focus on a particular field such as healthcare. Some of the most popular include: health & information sciences, paralegal studies, medical transcription, information technologies, medical assistant, radiology, business administration, administrative assistant, veterinary technology, medical coding & billing, pharmacy technology, healthcare reimbursement, criminal justice, management information systems, and human resource management

These are just a few of the many career college offerings. If you feel that a career college may be the right path for you, do some online research and visit several schools that offer courses that interest you. The best way to discover if a program is right for you is to meet the instructors and get a feel for the learning environment.

You should also make sure that the school is accredited by one of the national accrediting agencies recognized for overseeing the quality of technical and career schools in the United States. The U.S. Department of Education has a list of several appropriate agencies that they approve. Their website is a great place to start your research.

Name badges come in various forms but they have become a vital tool for businesses in creating a more friendly and professional appearance for their workforce. Name badges and tags are commonplace for businesses where customer service is key, but name tag ribbons can create a traditional look that will never fail to impress. They are commonly donned by staff in both public and private sector organizations i.e. in hospitals, airlines, hotels and many retail outlets. Read on to find out why they are so value in the current day and age…

Why Name Tag Ribbons?

Staff sporting name tag ribbons can seem more approachable. This is because the name tag and ribbon is essentially a member of staff’s ID which shows that they work for the company. This lets the customer know that they are there to help and that it is okay for them to be approached. They also help create a bond between a member of staff and a customer. Name tags and ribbons let a customer know that employees name and often their role, and this can often help form a relationship between the two. A better relationship between customer and employee can often mean more repeat sales.

Name tag ribbons are also vital for security and decreases the likelihood of impersonation and fraud by people trying to pass themselves off as authorized members of staff to gain access to information or financial gain.

Name tag ribbons can also make members of staff appear more professional. They create a good first impression and can create a trustworthy and reputable image of your company. If you’re staff are sporting tags which mean that they officially represent your company them they are far more likely to act in a professional manner around customers.

Name tag ribbons can also create a sense of pride within your staff. Knowing and showing that they are part of a team will give them a boost and will make them more productive. They help create a good team spirit and create a sense of unity amongst your staff. A united workforce will make the company run more smoothly and will increase productivity considerably.
Where to Buy Name Tag Ribbons?

It is possible to buy name tag ribbons from numerous high street and online retailers, however, the more affordable deals can often be found online as retailers often have cut price deals and it may be cheaper if you wish to buy in bulk. Use the major online search engines to locate the best and most affordable deals. The best companies now know that the majority of people today now use search engines to locate products and services and so will have worked hard to get their companies high up in the search results. Choose these companies for high quality and well priced name badges and ribbons. There is a huge variety of name badges and ribbons so whatever design and style is most suited to your workforce, you are bound to find something suitable to your requirements and allowed budget.

Online college degrees are increasingly popular for both traditional students and those who are pursuing higher education while working. The allure can be attributed to a combination of lower costs, convenience (you can attend classes on your own schedule) and the increase acceptance of online college degrees by today’s employers.

The most popular online college degrees tend to be those that focus on a particular professional career or practical discipline rather than more generalized degrees such as those offered by traditional campus-based colleges or universities. There are also a higher percentage of students pursuing associate degrees as opposed to bachelor’s degrees through online learning. Part of this is because many students seeking an online college degree are seeking to enter the workforce as quickly as possible or are already working and want to improve their chances of promotion. Another reason seems to be that online students prefer to obtain associate online college degrees so that they can take advantage of it in terms of a better job, and then continue with a bachelor’s degree while working full time.

Professional Online College Degrees are Industry Focused

Overall the most popular discipline at online colleges is Business Administration. This is a degree that can translate into any number of industries because it is based on business skills and management techniques that almost any type of company can benefit from. Secretaries and lower level employees often study for online college degrees in Business Administration or Business Management so that they are more likely to be perceived as “promotion material.” Another popular degree program is accounting; an associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting is always in demand by companies that are finding it increasingly difficult to find qualified account managers and bookkeepers.

Computer science degrees at all levels are second only to business administration with students pursuing online college degrees. Because the government predicts that the demand for employees with computer programming and database management skills will continue to increase indefinitely, these degrees are an excellent investment in anyone’s future.

Medicine is another industry that is desperately in need of qualified individuals with a degree or diploma in a healthcare related area such as medical reimbursement or healthcare management. With the healthcare crisis now facing the United States, experts in understanding how healthcare insurance works and who can manage facilities seamlessly are in short supply. Online college degrees in this area can take an individual from an entry-level position to management quickly.

Online College Degree Programs Keep Pace with Industry Changes

Online college degree programs keep pace with industry changes and shifts in professional demand because they have certain advantages over traditional colleges. Online colleges don’t need additional space or facilities to add new programs to their curriculum. When they notice an emerging trend, they can offer a new program as soon as they have located and hired the appropriate instructors. These instructors are usually industry leaders themselves, and they are able to provide instruction that covers the most recent innovations in their industry because many remain a part of the industry, something typical college professors aren’t able to do because of scheduling conflicts.

A perfect example of a program that was non-existent a decade ago is Criminal Justice. Students can pursue an online college degree in Criminal Justice from several excellent online colleges. In fact, criminal justice surpassed health care degrees in popularity at online colleges for the first time this past year.

To find out more about the new and evolving opportunities for an online education, contact admissions counselors to discuss your options. They will know the trends and statistics to help you choose the particular college degree program to carry you into a successful future.
